Agathe, a multi-disciplinary artist from Normandy and graduated from the Arts School of Caen, not only writes her texts and composes her songs but also produces her videos, her covers and performs on stage in solo or duo. After a first EP produced in a DIY way, she will release in May 2023 her first album "Beautiful Damages" with the December Square label. His minimalist and dark universe, with folk, blues and pop-indie roots, is reminiscent of influences such as Cat Power, Michelle Gurevich and Soko. While an epic composition such as "Là Où naissent les couleurs nouvelles" would have found it's place also on "Écailles de lune," "Beings of Light" with it's blazing character reminds of the ground-breaking "Le secret." On the other hand, "Autre temps", the album's first single to which there is also an impressive and visually stunning video clip, is a prime example for the melodic and catchy side of Alcest that initially came to the fore on the band's debut album "Souvenirs d'un autre monde." Something that is common to all of the songs, however, is the predominant feeling of euphoria and bliss, always subtly overshadowed by melancholia and yearning. Born in march 2000, Angelus Apatrida became in few years one of the most important Spanish thrash metal bands. Many demos and band members passed through the history of Angelus Apatrida but it was in January 2003 that the band decided to write pounding thrash metal, mostly influenced by like Pantera, Megadeth, Overkill, Anthrax or Annihilator. Pacific Northwestern doom metal monolith Bell Witch is releasing their new album Future's Shadow Part 1: The Clandestine Gate. For this new album, bassist / vocalist Dylan Desmond and drummer / vocalist Jesse Shreibman exploded Bell Witch's bounds. Like 2017's lauded Mirror Reaper, The Clandestine Gate is a single 83-minute track-a composition that pulses and breathes on a filmic timeframe. It constitutes the first chapter in a planned triptych of longform albums, collectively called Future's Shadow. While traces of organ and synthesizer hovered over Mirror Reaper and Bell Witch's 2020 collaboration with Aerial Ruin, Stygian Bough Volume 1, The Clandestine Gate drew those instruments closer to the center of it's compositions. The band reunited with their longtime producer Billy Anderson as they began negotiating these new compositional weights. On this latest, the band's twinned voices build off of the chantlike textures of previous records while steering toward more developed melodic lines, structured harmonies, and rhythmic death metal growls.The immense gravity of a work like The Clandestine Gate, which features exclusive stunning cover art by Jordi Diaz Alama, allows ideas to simmer in a way that feels profoundly and somatically intuitive-not just a philosophical exercise, but an embodied truth. "There are endless amounts of broader 'life' examples brought up at any given time while playing with Quinnisa, and I can't help stopping to discuss them as they come up," he says. Married around a shared love of machine-led funk, outsider soul, 70s-80s nautica and 21st century basement disco, Bright & Findlay (formed of multi-hyphenate James Alexander Bright and Groove Armada's Tom Findlay) are set to release their debut album 'Everything Is Slow' on 9th June via Athens Of The North.After hearing James' 2019 single 'Tigers Roar' on the radio, Tom reached out to see if they could work together on some new music for Groove Armada's last studio album 'Edge Of The Horizon'. While three tracks from these sessions made the album, the two concurrently struck up a friendship in creating a musical language of their own, leading them to form the beginnings of a new partnership tagged Bright & Findlay. The first Bright & Findlay release, 2021's 'Slow Dance' EP, was Gilles Peterson included it in his tracks of the year, they recorded a Block Party mix for Huey Morgan and it also received support from Don Letts, Tom Ravenscroft, Bill Brewster, Dam Funk (Apple Music), Bluey (STR4RA/Incognito), KCRW, Triple J and beyond.With a blueprint laid out, the pair began work on more songs, initially exchanging sketches back and forth between their respective studios before adding and subtracting, layering and finessing an album's worth of music. The pair shares production and instrumental work across the record, with James taking vocals and guitars and Tom's ear for arrangement proving second to none.
