79.5 is the sound of New York City. The Brooklyn-based band has announced their forthcoming self-titled album on Razor-N-Tape. Soulful and psychedelic, the new collection's masterful melodies may be hard to categorize, from 70's underground disco to acid jazz to sugary sweet pop. It's very existence is a protest of the old boy's club in the music industry. And, a personal triumph against all odds, while illuminating the most beautiful collaboration between friends. Current lineup includes singer, songwriter and composer Kate Mattison, singer and rapper Lola Adanna, drummer Caito Sanchez (Charles Bradley, Lee Fields), bassist Andrew Raposo (Midnight Magic, Hess Is More) and sax player + flautist Izaak Mills.Tracklisting:A1. Burak Çebi, an outstanding pianist and composer of his generation, captivates audiences with his poetic, introspective approach to music making. His playing is marked by tonal perfection, subtly structured voicing and a range of moods and colours, allowing meditative moments to unfold, for example, in the late piano sonatas of Beethoven and in Chopin's nocturnes. Since his recent successes in competitions in Italy, Spain, and Turkey, the Germany-based artist has made guest appearances in Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, Leipzig and practically all of Turkey's major concert halls. Çebi hails from a Turkish family of musicians with deep and extensive roots in the Western classical tradition. Although he received his first music lessons at the age of five, it was not until age 12 that he began to train as a pianist at the state conservatory in Izmir. He completed his musical studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Nuremberg, earning a soloist diploma. He attended the master classes of Stephen Kovacevich, Jean-François Antonioli, Hüseyin Sermet, Abdel Rahman El-Bacha, Filippo Gamba, Bernd Glemser and Jura Margulis. He was awarded first prize in the Orchestra Sion International Piano Competition in 2013 in Istanbul, second prize in Forum Orihuela 2016 in Spain and second prize at IMA Inharmonia 2016 in Rimini, Italy. His hometown Izmir also provided the setting for his solo and orchestra debuts, the latter with the Izmir Symphony Orchestra, playing Beethoven's 4th piano concerto under the direction of Ibrahim Yazici in 2007. He has given recitals and chamber music concerts in Berlin (Philharmonie Kammermusiksaal, Haus des Rundfunks), Leipzig (Gewandhaus), Hamburg (Laeiszhalle), Bremen (Die Glocke), Dresden (Piano Salon), München (Steinway-Haus), Ankara (Bilkent Concert Hall, Staatsphilarmonie), Istanbul (Notre Dame de Sion, Cemal Resit Rey Concert Hall), Izmir (Saygun Concert Hall, Hikmet Simsek Hall), Bayreuth (Steingräber-Haus), Bourges, Rostock, Hannover, Ingolstadt, Trier, Ludwigshafen, Bamberg and many other cities. He participated in events such as the Klavier Akademie Freiburg 2011, Géza Anda-Klaviertage 2011, Heidelberger Frühling 2010, International Chamber Music Courses in Schaffhausen (Switzerland), Chance 2009 Piano Festival in Tegernsee among others. In his recital at the world-renowned Reitstadel concert hall in Neumarkt-Oberpfalz on the occasion of the bicen- tennial of Schumann's birth in 2010, Çebi played a full Schumann programme and gained critical acclaim. Burak Çebi, who also won prizes in the context of the international piano competition held in Steinway-Haus Munich in 2008 and the Mozart Chamber Music Competition in Nuremberg, has also been awarded scholarships from DAAD, Sparda Bank Nuremberg, Berlin Gotthard-Schierse Fund, Deutscher Musikrat, Deutsche Orchesterstiftung and the Richard Wagner Assocciation.

Transparent Blue Vinyl. So you think you know Arjen Lucassen, huh? Towering Dutch prog rock polymath? The man behind the super successful prog rock conceptualists Ayreon? Not to mention his prog metal offshoots Star One and Guilt Machine? Enormous overarching concept albums about space and time, packed to the hilt with special guests that read like a who's who of modern day progressive rock? Records that take as long to conceive as they do to record? That Arjen Lucassen? Well, think again... 'Golden Age Of Music', the latest album to feature Lucassen's not inconsiderable talents, may also feature stellar musicianship and killer tunes, but there is no storyline that takes place far into the future in the far flung depths of space. Nor do the album's 11 tracks come courtesy of an unending list of guest artists. The end result is 11 tracks of high energy, progressively inclined heavy rock that swings with the kind of groove Deep Purple rocked with in the early to mid 1970s. Golden Age Of Music is out May 19, 2023 on CD and Vinyl.

AsOne² introduces the addition of Catherine Siofra Prendergast to the As One line-up after a series of successful live shows together with Kirk Degiorgio. The live duo entered the studio to focus on adding a melodic sensibility to the harmonic structure of the existing As One sound. The resulting album once again finds it perfect home with the Belgian record label De: tuned. Following on the heels of the teaser EP featuring the duo's acclaimed 'Descent Module' - AsOne² is a blend of vintage, warm analog gooeyness and pristine post-modern production techniques. Prendergast's melodic additions veers the As One sound towards a more accessible arena without compromising on the core As One sonic signature. Yearning chords, sparkling lead lines, bubbling funk basslines and ethereal ambient washes merge to form a coherent whole in this new advance in the development of As One - now in it's 30th year. On Synthetic: Season 2, Halifax pop artist and composer Rich Aucoin continues his journey through the history of synthesizers. The second entry in his quadruple LP series once again features an armada of the world's most rare, historic, and highly sought after electronic instruments. Gaining access to the collections of Calgary's National Music Centre and LA's Vintage Synthesizer Museum, Aucoin ran amok on machines to create four albums of thrilling, transporting instrumental music. Each song on Synthetic: Season 2 conjures a world of it's own, combining Aucoin's melodic sensibilities with textural, genre-agnostic experimentation. The album swerves into action with the wiggling synths and thunderous drum breaks of "Wav" - recorded on the Hammond Novachord from 1939 and considered the very first analog, fully polyphonic synthesizer - stacking hooks like a cinematic training montage as it climbs toward the first of many transcendent conclusions. "Shift" changes course into eerie, frostbitten industrial territory with rubbery beats that bounce like pogo sticks, switching tempos unexpectedly and dissolving into skittering arrays of sound. The squelching groove of "Pure" brings a touch of '90s French House, like Daft Punk jet-setting around the world. Six minutes pass in a flash during this playful brain-dance. "Space" is a thumping banger built upon chiming, subaquatic beats that slice through thick drones and filter disco drops. It's passages of extraterrestrial techno tranquility will make you feel like an astronaut floating in the inky void, making shapes in zero gravity. - Jesse Locke A1. Wav 4:18 A2. Shift 4:19 A3. Vinyl LP pressing. Already during Basie's lifetime, some of his most loyal followers formed the All Stars. The alto-saxophonist Marshall Royal, Basie's eternal concertmaster, took the lead in this. (Marshall probably played the same role for Basie as Johnny Hodges did for Duke Ellington. He passed away in 1995). The musicians performing that evening had for many years, some (like Royal) even for decades, co-fathered and influenced the Basie-effect, so important for the history of big bands in swing. Both trumpeters represent the different concepts that were always present side by side in Basie's orchestra: relaxed elegance (represented by Harry Edison, whom the world of jazz called Sweets for obvious reasons), and the hands-on severeness of Joe Newman. Besides Royal, who had always been one of the breathing jazz saxophonist like Coleman Hawkins or Ben Webster, here at the Fabrik the Kansas-City-veteran Buddy Tate and Billy Mitchell, who was more at home in modern bebop, invoke two other aspects of the Basie-universe. Benny Powell rounds out the spectrum of the wind section. As always in Basie's band (and also here) it manifests itself in full-bodied arrangements, and by supporting the soloists in the background. Nat Pierce, the pianist, delicately adapts to Basie's consistent frugality and restraint. Bassist John Heard and drummer Gus Johnson establish the rhythm-dimension of Basie's spell, even without the magician Green.

"The Become EP is a collection of 5 songs from the Once Twice Melody sessions. We didn't think they fit in the world of OTM, but later realized they all fit in a little world of their own. To us, they are all kind of scuzzy and spacious, and live in the spirit realm. It's not really where we are currently going, but it's definitely somewhere we have been. We hope you enjoy these tunes, Alex and Victoria/Beach House." Benny The Butcher blazed a trail as an elite voice in rap's underground to become a top artist in all of music. The prolific Buffalo, New Yorker has established two legendary (and concurrent) album series, broken bread with industry leaders, and twice reached the Billboard Top 40 albums chart as an independent. Now Benny sets the table for a definitive 2022. Soon, he will unveil his highly-anticipated Tana Talk 4. By 2004, Benny combined these experiences to launch the Tana Talk series while on house arrest. As TT3 promised, Benny delivered two volumes of The Plugs I Met, in 2019 and 2021, on his Black Soprano Family imprint. In between, Benny inked with Roc Nation management and made songs with Drake, Lil Wayne, Black Thought, and Freddie Gibbs. He also partnered with Grammy-winning producer Hit-Boy to flaunt his range on 2020's acclaimed Burden Of Proof. If the third installment of Tana Talk made Benny a formidable presence in Rap, Volume 4 propels him to stardom. Debut single "Johnny P's Caddy" partners The Butcher with J. Cole over The Alchemist production. Al' and Daringer handle the album's music, just as they seamlessly did on TT3. Conway, Westside Gunn, 38 Spesh and more guest on TT4, as does Stove God Cooks. Benny's skills and authenticity have cemented his place in the game. However, in a career defined by will and perseverance, The Butcher's blade keeps getting sharper.

These are fighting times, people. We are surrounded by grit, spit, and bloody war, but in the distance moving forward is The Black Angels. _Passover_, The Black Angels debut album, speaks of real-life horrors, death, and destruction with doses of love, sex, and healing. Don't lose track, these are caring times as well. Formed in 2004 and hailing from the mescaline-infused outskirts of Austin, Texas, this gang of musical misfits has been on the road non-stop since their birth, performing at such renowned venues as Sin-e, Middle East, and Spaceland. In early 2006, the band's self-titled debut EP was dubbed highly recommended in _Spin Magazine_ while receiving heavy radio airplay on such influential stations as KEXP and BBC Radio 1 by Zane Lowe. Growing in spades since their EP, _Passover_ showcases a band on the make. Spiraling upwards to the skies with the enemy straight on their trail, 'The Sniper At The Gates Of Heaven' sees The Black Angels reaching high and stretching out with trance-inducing guitar lines from Christian Bland, Nate Ryan's filthy medical dumpster bass, and the grizzly preacher vox of lead shaman Alex Maas. 'Black Grease' is a bluesy monster full of swagger propelled by the primitive beat of drummer Stephanie Bailey and the mourning drone of organist Jennifer Raines. 10-songs deep, _Passover_ has come again. Reflecting and questioning the intergenerational psychosis of American social life that surrounds us, The Black Angels put forth their answers in song. It's a 'Call To Arms' for those ready to join the good fight, a rock 'n' roll salvation during the times we need it the most. As Maas bellows on 'Young Man Dead,' 'Fire for the hills, pick up speed, and let's go...'

Gatefold double LP (black vinyl), padded inner sleeve, and protection sleeve. Only a very few original metal acts emerge each decade from the mass of bands that are stylistically easy to label. BOTANIST are both in musical and lyrical aspects one of those unique bands that are obviously different. Now, the act's eleventh full-length, "VIII: Selenotrope" is announced. On the eighth solo album by the project, and the first since "VI: Flora" (2014), mastermind Otrebor again sends sprigs into new sonic directions. Although the band's roots in black metal still shimmer through the dense foliage, this sprawling, straggling, blooming creation is an exuberantly growing, varied musical meditation. "The title "VIII: Selenotrope" refers to plants that flower in moonlight. BOTANIST's characteristic sound of the hammered dulcimer combines perfectly with now predominantly clean vocals that are often arranged into multi-layered choirs, resulting in an entangling, highly dynamic album that comes together in a singular piece of music seemingly taking influence from all avant-garde, progressive, experimental, post-metal, and other possible descriptions - the validity of which very much depends on each individual listener. "VIII: Selenotrope" is not made to fit into just one drawer." All songs of this project are told from the perspective of a protagonist called "The Botanist". He is characterised as a crazed man of science that lives in self-imposed exile, as far away from Humanity and it's crimes against Nature as possible. In his sanctuary of fantasy and wonder, which he calls "The Verdant Realm", "The Botanist" surrounds himself with plants and flowers to find solace in the company of the natural world, while he envisions the destruction of mankind. Seated upon his throne of Veltheimia, "The Botanist" awaits the time of humanity's self-eradication, which will allow plants to cover planet Earth in green once again. BOTANIST's lyrics are equally informed by scientific nomenclature as they are inspired by Romantic-era poetry, art, and philosophy. In a striking departure from traditional metal instrumentation, Otrebor uses distorted hammered dulcimers instead of guitars All BOTANIST albums bearing Roman numbers are solo-recording by Otrebor., which includes "VIII: Selenotrope". After successfully working with Swedish mixing and mastering specialist Dan Swanö for the previous album "Photosynthesis", Otrebor decided to continue the collaboration for "VIII: Selenotrope". The result is a stunningly beautiful new branch in the BOTANIST evolution. Yet in an unexpected twist, "VIII: Selenotrope" blooms not only at night, but also shines as a radiant musical flower in broad daylight.

A sonic love letter to Italy's 2023 Capital of Culture, Brescia-Bergamo. Harnessing a creativity and energy without genre, boundaries or filters, Rebirth blends together independent musical paths, which were valid but otherwise fragmented, into a collective and identity project called 'Brixia Sonora' - a tribute to the Brescian music scene in it's many facets and declinations. An image of a city and it's atmosphere. A photograph that may be imperfect, potentially blurry, yet alive and authentic. Pulsating. Incorporating multiple inspirations and influences: noise, minimalism, breaking the mold; weaves and beats, polyrhythm and polymetry, glitch music and organic music; and yet electronic fractals, jazz effusions, house beats, Balearic sunsets, post-metropolitan downtempo, other forms of rock. A cocktail of hybridizations that, under the direction of Rebirth, finds a balance on the edge of the unexpected, despite it's diversity, infinite facets, and multiple identities.Exploring the musical landscapes of the protagonists: Giovanni Battagliola, Paolo Cattaneo, Chris Benoit, Eke, Luca Formentini, Kick, Alessandro Pedretti, Corrado Saija e Giorgio Presti, Maniscalco, Materie, Matteo Gamba, Mattia Fontana. Solo projects, bands, collectives, DJs, and producers - a crossroads of generations and multitudes within which everyone has carved out their own space. Vinyl LP pressing. In LĂ  is the outcome of the collaboration between Gavin Bryars and the Italian visual artist Massimo Bartolini. Staged as a large-scale installation at the Luigi Pecci Centre for Contemporary Art in Prato, Italy, during the autumn of 2022, Bartolini transformed scaffolding into pipe organ bars, suspended from the ceiling across seven rooms of the museum as the central piece for his retrospective exhibition. It is the music played by these singular organs, composed by Bryars, that makes up the two sides of Alga Marghen's LP edition. Here is a compositional practice by Gavin Bryars returning to some of the experimental and conceptual territory that defined his work during the early 1970s, prior to the composition of seminal works like "The Sinking of The Titanic" and "Jesus' Blood Never Failed Me Yet". In LĂ  presents the composer working across the vast space of the installation, with sounds physically spread in each of the museum's rooms and placed in careful consideration of the space continuity, while at the same time never fulling being experienced in it's totality by the listener.

Part experimental indie and part ‘70s soft rock, Califone’s first record in three years finds creative force Tim Rutili reaching new levels of harmony, fragility, and confidence. Whether detailing aging goths retaining their identity through year-long spooky decorations (“Halloween”), an imagined conversation with an inbred monarch (“Habsburg Jaw”), or the conflicts between identity and technology (“Ox-Eye”), Villagers’ nine tracks spread out and luxuriates in the messy darkness of modern life. Like sitting in awe on the porch swing at the end of the world, Califone’s latest marvels at the edge of the universe spreading into the darkness of infinity. With 25 years of Califone in his catalog (not to mention a variety of other projects, including alt rock heroes Red Red Meat), the Chicago-born, Los Angeles-based knows well how to find that moment of awe and bliss even as things are falling apart. Part poet, part abstract painter, and always surrounded by a variety of hyper-talented collaborators (here including longtime cohorts Ben Massarella, Michael Krassner, Rachel Blumberg, and Brian Deck, as well as the likes of Nora O'Connor and Finom's Macie Stewart), Rutili has always excelled at luring listeners through elusive lyrics, flashes of shadows and images coming together in disarming unity.
