Beyond Vision began as an experiment and became the path to a silver future, marking the dawn of a new era for a band that historically relied almost exclusively on thundering riffage. Recorded by longtime producer Billy Anderson, the album's songs flow into each other without beginning or ending, propelled by an undulating, lysergic pulse that takes listeners wherever they'd like to go. One might even call it a concept record, with themes that contemplate interplanetary migration, the winding path of existence, and how we expect this trip to go one way, only to find it taking directions we never imagined. Don't get it twisted, though: there are blistering guitars and swirling power dirges aplenty. Beyond Vision is undeniably Acid King, now in widescreen technicolor and interstellar cinemascope.

On December 2013, during Alain Pilot's show "La Bande Passante" and as part of the celebrations for Manu Dibango's 80th birthday, Radio France Internationale gathered around the African master a bunch of prestigious guests including the Ethio-Jazz ambassadors : Akalé Wubé.The band decided to play live and on air African Pop Session and Ekedi - both written and recorded by the Cameroonian saxophonist in the early seventies - quickly joined by Manu Dibango and his saxophone. Two live recordings of this session will be taken out this pathbreaking and improvised meeting.A great complicity shortly settled between them and, a few months later, Akalé Wubé invited Manu Dibango on their track Anbessa (The Lion in Amharic) composed as a tribute to him. This collaboration led them to share several stages together in the following years. With this RFI session still in mind, Manu Dibango invited the band to join him in studio for Akalé Wubé to arrange and re-record 5 other unknown nuggets from his catalogue : La Colère des Dieux, Du Bush a Bush, Gentlemen de Camp Yabassi, Otetena Munja and Peaceful Homeland. Unfortunately, The Lion won't make it to the Parisian band's studio to record his last solos, fate decided otherwise

Double vinyl LP pressing in gatefold jacket. Includes poster. Composer, clarinetist, singer and educator Angel Bat Dawid announces the release of Requiem For Jazz. A 12-movement suite composed, arranged, and inspired in part by dialogue from Edward O. Bland's 1959 film The Cry of Jazz, the album is a wide-ranging treatise on the African American story from one of it's most astute narrators. Itself an incisive critique of racial politics in the USA, The Cry of Jazz draws formal comparisons between the structure of jazz music and the African American experience - as one of freedom and restraint, of joy and suffering - that manifests in the triumph of spirit over the crushing prejudice of daily life. Cutting together archive reels from Black neighborhoods in Chicago with live performance footage from Sun Ra and his Arkestra among others, the film remains a radical and prescient evocation of Black pride and it's roots in the history of jazz, from spirituals to blues and beyond.

Mr. B is the album recorded in 1983 by Chet Baker and is considered one of the best from that period. Baker plays compositions from 'Dolphin Dance' (Herbie Hancock), 'Strollin' (Horace Silver) and 'In Your Own Sweet Way' (Dave Brubeck). The sadness of the songs is felt throughout, in a lazy sometimes slow and sluggish tempo. The album includes two bonus tracks 'White Blues' and 'Father X-mas' and band members include Michel Graillier (piano) and Ricardo Del Fra (bass). IF you had to sweat all of Chuck Berry's early albums on Chess, this would be the one to own, stated Cub Koda in his 5-star AllMusic review of this LP. "While this may be merely a collection of singles and album ballast, it ends up being the most perfectly realized of Chuck Berry's career," he added. First released in July of 1957, it features twelve sensational numbers and was akin to a greatest hits sampler, which includes such perennial songs as "Maybellene", "Roll Over Beethoven", "Almost Grown," "Carol," "Sweet Little Rock and Roller," and "Johnny B. "During the pandemic, we started a Patreon page. Through the Patreon page, ten people purchased a song we would write for them after having a zoom chat with the band. The stories we heard in those conversations created foundations for the lyrics that evolved into ten different songs. A year or so later we decided to take them into the studio to create a new album. During the studio sessions, we realized we wanted a song to summarize the process and tell the story of the project. One afternoon during the session we came up with the title “10 Stories High” and matched it up with a melody that Pete and Bryan had recorded earlier on their phones. We really liked how the title added imagery of ten people in a ten-story building living out their own external and internal experiences. It was a perfect summary to the project. After a few hours of tinkering with the music and words we had our title track for the record."

Boycalledcrow is the alias of Chester-based sound artist Carl Knott (Wonderful Beasts, Spacelab). Knott is a former folk musician using his nascent acoustic influences as the basis for his unique and often stirring compositions. "I like weird folk art, and I think the stuff I make is a bit like that," he explains. "It's definitely not perfect - it's strange and a reflection of the time and place I live in." Each one of the twelve tracks on Nightmare Folk Art finds itself poised on an axis somewhere between the acoustic and electronic, the rhythmic and the ambient, the minimalist and the densely-layered. Opener 'Old Blue Bear' sets the tone for the collection, switching breezily between introspective textures and fast-paced euphoria, underpinned by acoustic guitar passages that are skewed so extensively that they become disconnected from their sources. Melodies rise up joyfully, hang around, and then become enveloped in treated sounds of unknowable provenance. "I hunt down really clean royalty-free acoustic guitar samples," says Knott. "I like nylon strings and clear, sparkly tones - the brighter, the better. I pick the source material based on how sonically good and warm it sounds as well as the clarity of the notes. It really has nothing to do with the musical phrase." Knott then manipulates those plundered sounds to create the diverse sounds heard across Nightmare Folk Art. "My mantra is to destroy, create, then repeat. It's really liberating, and I love working this way. I play acoustic fingerpicking guitar so I try to play my controller the same way. At the same time, audio is very visual for me: I get a glimpse of an abstract object in my mind's eye and try to get close to that, but I also like the feel of falling into a rabbit hole and not knowing where I might end up." That sense of venturing deep into the unknown shines through on this album. Tracks like the chiming, shanty-esque 'Acorn' and the fluttering, elusive shapes of 'Mystic Scally' and 'Silly Song' evoke a sense of wonder and awe akin to staring onto a new landscape or cityscape for the first time, leaving a transcendent mark on the listener. These are the sounds to accompany sepia-tinged memories, long-forgotten faces and misremembered places; regrets, reminiscences, hopes and dreams. "This album was influenced by my family, and walking in the countryside in Staffordshire and Cheshire," explains Knott of the pastoral, ruminative quality that flows through Nightmare Folk Art. "I genuinely think that there's a spiritual side to this type of creativity. It means I can express deep feelings in a way that I simply couldn't vocalise." A warmth and hopefulness can be found here. 'Sister Poppy Is A Good Girl', named after the Knott family dog, carries a beautiful, celebratory sheen while the warped and churning drones of 'So So So, Sad' flits between optimistic promise and uncertainty, reflecting the state of mind that Knott was in when assembling the album. "The title came from a William Gibson book, 'Virtual Light'," concludes Knott. "I was reading that at the same time of making the album. It seemed to perfectly sum up what I was creating, despite everything around me feeling a bit off and nightmarish."

The 3rd album by BudaBrose (BudaMunk and Fitz Ambrose) is a collaboration of beatmakers who draw attention worldwide. It includes a dream cast of additional instrumentation including Devin Morrison, Jamma-Dee, Silent Jay, DJ Scratch Nice, and K-Flash. The album also features guest appearances by Chris Rivers and Gibby. BudaMunk's releases feature many prominent artists and are heralded as culminations in the Japanese Hip Hop scene. In parallel with many domestic activities, BudaMunk also undertakes many projects overseas. Fitz Ambrose, the Canadian / Cape Bretton Island born, now Tokyo based beat maker draws from 80's & 90's sounds while maintaining the sensation that injected the same magic the originals did. 5lack, who is featured on the album, continues to gather more attention by offering songs to Japan's greatest upcomers. Their work commands attention as an entity that connects underground and hip-hop scenes in Japan and abroad via the artist's shared love of 90's culture. As a hip-hop charm, as 80's mellow mood, glittery and spectacular, vibrant and smoky beat magic as warm and exciting hip-hop studded in a film. "The combination of Buda and Fitz is nothing but my favorite thing." -5lack "These are the types of beats that remind me that life can be butter without things having to get so complicated." -Mndsgn "It's urban, it's dirty. This unique sound is becoming a habit and it's repeating endlessly. The combination of these two is dangerous! Please listen carefully." -Mabanua (Origami Productions)

Buzzard Canyon began their journey as a band in 2013. The inspiration was simple: "To play some in your face rock n' roll and most of all, have fun while doing it!" The term "Camaro Rock" was quickly adopted and sums up their style just perfectly: Picture yourself with a jean jacket, mullet, driving an early 80's Camaro, pumping your fist as you roar down a desert road with the radio at full volume. The band have been amassing a loyal following by delivering massive riffs and gigging tirelessly. Buzzard Canyon has performed on notable stoner and doom fests throughout the U.S. and Canada and played direct support slots for multiple national acts. October 2016 saw the band's critically acclaimed debut release Hellfire & Whiskey. After spending the next few years performing live in support of the release, the band started to write and demo new material, but due being in isolation with the rest of the world during the Covid-19 pandemic, they were forced to sit tight on their second full- length. Vinyl LP pressing. Feral Vapours of the Silver Ether (2007) was the 2nd album by Chris & Cosey as Carter Tutti after 2004's 'Cabal'. The project was their concerted effort to explore more sensual, even psychedelic, forms after more than 25 years of defining synth-pop and techno-pop in their own image since departing from pioneering industrial band Throbbing Gristle. Anyone expecting Chris Carter's puckered, ductile rhythms may be left wanting by this album, but anyone who loves his sleek, layered synth contours, or the intoxicating presence of Cosey's voice and brass are strongly encouraged to revel in it's sexy sensuousness, and especially so if they haven't already.

Felte Records presents Glimpse Of Heaven – a stunning new album by the Hawaii-born, LA-based musician, singer, producer and professional mastering engineer Jess Labrador, AKA Chasms.

Labrador’s deeply personal work as Chasms has always felt like an unveiling. Following 2019’s ‘The Mirage,’ which was a dark, dubby meditation on grief and loss, this new album is both familiar and different. The third full-length under the Chasms name, Glimpse of Heaven trades in washes of reverb for starker moments of closeness and intimacy. An exploration of the personal inventory and reckoning necessary to move forward in life, the LP considers not only how we relate to the world, but more importantly how we relate to ourselves.

While always distinct, you could previously detect post-punk, shoegaze, and dub sensibilities in the music. Dreamy drift tethered by skittered beats, airy vocals, and melancholic melodies are here like previous efforts too. However, at the same time, Labrador steps into new territory with an expanse of vaporous synths and samples, adding to the project’s ethereal electronic pop and dubwise pulse. Lush guitars glisten throughout the album, but this time only in sparse, disciplined embellishments. Glimpse of Heaven is a fully realised version of Chasms beyond its influences; to say that this is a seamless evocation of such disparate sounds as Massive Attack, Basic Chanel, Sade, Seefeel and Dif Juz is to say it is wholly unique. While she continues to unfurl her thoughts, there is a shift from opening up to the listener toward allowing the listener to witness her opening to herself.

Bongo Joe presents "Club Coco", a summery outernational latin and afro rooted music compilation curated by Coco Mari'a. An attempt to give back something to music lovers around the world and print on an object a piece of the essence of the community that has been gathering around her weekly radio show at Worldwide FM. In many ways Coco Mari'a is like a music detecting sunflower. Just naturally she is turning her ears into the direction from where happily vibrating music from all around the world is emerging. She is a DJ and radio host whose musical selection transmits the energy of the Caribbean, Brazil and the rest of Latin America through records full of samba, jazz, charanga and cumbia, whilst embracing an internationalist vibe that can also include the most eclectic influences. Besides a great music taste and charming personality, her magic behind the decks comes from the fact that when you listen to her selection it is immediately obvious that she is thrilled to share with other people those amazing songs she finds digging through record shops and all other kinds of quirky places. Meanwhile, her unpretentious and intimate way to speak makes her radio audience feel as if they aren't listening to a show being broadcasted worldwide, but instead are seating within the intimacy of her living room, sipping up on a coffee and sharing the moment with a small group of friends. Coco Mari'a was starting to extend her musical endeavours beyond her DJ and Radio Sets by throwing a series of parties called "Club Coco" at Berlin's "Sameheads" venue. Her intention is to allow a place where both the music fans and artists that converge on her shows, could also have a physical space to enjoy this music. Her weekly spot on Worldwide FM is becoming a vibrant communal space where Coco's followers are getting their weekly dose of her sometimes sweet, sometimes hard-grooving, but always positive and affirmative music selection. This is where "Club Coco", the album that you are about to listen to, comes into action. This LP gathers some of the inescapable artists that have been part of Coco Mari'a's shows. The list includes Nico Mauskovic, La Perla, Meridian Brothers y Grupo Renacimiento, Graham Mushnik, La Redada, Alex Figueira, Frente Cumbiero, Les Pythons de la Fournaise, Romperayo, Malphino, Max Weissenfeldt and even Coco Maria herself. Besides being a place where Coco Mari'a can reflect her music taste and pivot role in the scene, the album stands out by the way it transmits an internationalist identity via Latin music and other afro rooted influences. In many ways the tracks of the album showcase how these artists use music to reconcile both their pride for Latin American and Afro culture as well as their interest in being part of the cosmopolitanism of big European cities. Thus, each track adds a particular detail into building a perfect soundtrack for a community that is always traveling back and forwards between both regions, always looking for songs that explore the furthest frontiers of tropical music while staying true to the roots of their genres. A great example of how this is achieved can be appreciated right from the opening track, which goes in charge of Nico Mauskovic of The Mauskovic Dance Band. "A Big Brain' is a call and response instrumental that is built almost like a live jam. Floating on top of a cumbia loop full of high pitched cowbells (that must have been chopped from a percussion break from a Wganda Kenya), this song is a juggle of Los Mirlos' inspired guitar licks, psychedelic synth pads, feel good cumbia basses and the Mauskovic Dance Band trademark chants. It's the kind of song you would expect when warming up any sort of latin party.

Triple picture disc vinyl LP pressing. The Ape of Naples' is a deeply emotional and uniquely rewarding album. In it's immediate accessibility it is somewhat reminiscent of Coil's mid-1980s classic 'Horse Rotorvator' sharing that album's wild variety of sounds and styles as well as it's overriding sombre mood. Originally released in 2005 and in many ways the band's ultimate swan song, it is now considered one of the go-to albums for introducing new listeners to the unparalleled magick of Coil. Compiled and released by Peter Christopherson and Danny Hyde one year after Jhonn Balance's tragic deadly fall, it includes reworkings of the live favorite 'Amethyst Deceivers' and 'Love Secret's Domain's' 'Teenage Lightning' as well as several songs originally intended for the ill-fated 'Backwards' album like the haunting and reminiscent 'Fire of the Mind' and the superb 'Amber Rain'. Other tracks were created using unfinished song ideas from around 'Backwards', sampling tiny bits of Balance's live vocals from songs only ever performed in concert once like 'Triple Sun'. Using the lyrics of the theme tune for the 1970s BBC sit com series 'Are you being served?' for the unbelievably haunting 'Going up', this album's final track and the last song Coil ever performed live, is maybe the most poignant example of Balance's and Christopherson's method of turning base matter into pure sound gold, and like the title of the album, derived from an imaginary adult video an equally fine example of the often underappreciated humor of the boys. Christopherson with the help of long-term sound wizard Danny Hyde and using some of the talent of Coil touring members managed to craft an album which feels and flows like a true Coil classic.
